Description
16 step stop-frame continuous animated 360 rotation of my 3D Mario Sprite. Shot with a camera tripod.
I built him in Summer 2011 out of 12mm dice, spray paint, and super glue. There are just over 500 of them in the sculpture. Inspired by a custom sprite I made in 3D Dot Heroes. I procrastinated uploading the photo because I originally planned on doing a 3D Luigi sprite based on the dead Mario animation in SMB, but never got around to it.
So here he is, nearly 4 years late. I made a wooden stand in matte black for him, with a square base. Mario has a square hole on his abdomen which fits a 7/8 inch wooden dowel. I superglued a pair of washers inside the bottom of the square hole. A Neodymium magnet is affixed to the top of the dowel to hold him in place. Mario can rotate freely and the pull of the magnet is just strong enough to pull up the wooden base if Mario is lifted off the floor.

Before anybody asks why I uploaded the wrong category, it is because GIFs aren't allowed in any photography category. There is also no fanart + traditional sculpture category either. The photos were assembled and digitally animated using GIMP, so "digital animation" it is, even though there is nothing digital about the subject matter...
3D Sculptures are best appreciated viewed from all angles. Thanks for viewing!
